Original Zombie Zoo Sketch

I've just been doing a bit of a computer cleanup and going through my old files I came across this. It was the original sketch for the characters for the AussieBum Zombie Zoo designs. You have seen what it ended up as in previous posts and if you want to buy a pair get yourself over to the AussieBum shop pronto.

The Artist as a Really Cute Child

Ahhhhh, what a cutie. It's me, from back in the 70s. There I am, at the left with my mum just behind me. Happy Days! I found this clipping at my parent's and thought I'd share it with you. Normal service will be resumed shortly, don't worry. I just thought that this would be a nice change from the usual posting.

Last Granny

This is my last Granny illustration for Mad Dog Magazine. In a way I'm kind of relieved as I know next to nothing about Hip Hop music and was really flying blind with this series - but that doesn't mean that I'm not cool and down with the kids. Cos I iz. LOL ROTFL and all that kind of thing.

I Must Be Bats

I don't understand how someone can look at your vast online portfolio of work and then ask you to do some freebies for a trial because they can't imagine your style and then give the job to someone else. I've had it up to here with this kind of goings on. It doesn't happen in any other industry does it? Well I tell you it stops here!
I had to do these bats for just such a trial and they decided to use another illustrator. Well it's a shame to waste it and no NDAs were signed so here it is. Sorry for such an angry post. Enjoy the weekend everyone!

Scary Mary Prints

Just over a month until my 'Scary Mary's Hairy Beary Fairy Tales' Manchester show and everything seems to be falling into place nicely. Let's hope that by typing that I haven't just jinxed everything. Here's a sneaky peak of some of the screen prints drying in the studio to give you a taste of what the show will be about.
If you're up in Manchester between the 19th August & 16th September please pop in to the Odder bar and have a look. It is one of the featured events as part of Manchester Pride too. Keep watching the blog for details of the special opening event and I'll see you there.

Zombie Kit

Here's another game concept that never got past the initial stage. Shame though, I had great, gory plans for this cadaverous character. Maybe one day....

Mercat Octo-cocktails

I dare you to fathom out what is happening in this picture? You can't. It's a collection of different things all slapped together that I had to send in to a company to prove I could draw (after seeing my portfolio) a while back. These kind of free pitches are dead irritating, why can't they just trust my website. Plumbers & doctors don't have to do this so why should illustrators... one company actually used my roughs and didn't want to pay me at all. Trust no one!

Terrors of the Deep

Regular Corbett fans may know that I am quite obsessed with the denizens of the deep. Here's a few more examples of what I like to imagine lives in the spooky, dark waters down below. They'll probably all be proved to exist by science in the next couple of years.

Marriage Bunnies

I was up in Scotland this weekend for a wedding. This was the present. Not this jpeg but a lovely 18'' printed canvas. Sally, the bride used to be obsessed with rabbits when we were kids - she still is, thank goodness. She let me borrow her camping van to tour the Hebrides the week before the do and I cracked the wing mirror. Sorry about that and good luck to the pair of you!
