Kitten Parasites

I haven't updated my Kitten Parasite blog for over three months. So today I did. For those of you unfamiliar with my obsession with kittens and parasites allow me to explain:

A couple of years ago I wrote and illustrated a collection of poems about kittens with parasites. Unbelievably no publisher would touch it so I decided to self publish with the help of a friend of mine Bill Griffin. It did pretty well and I sold most of the 1000 run we printed. I do have a couple left so drop me a line if you want one and I think you may still be able to find it lying around most Forbidden Planets.

Here's an example of what to expect from the Kitten Parasites and you can follow their sporadic adventures here.

Hoosbehynde marsk

Like a motorbike helmet
With an eye for a visor
This parasite holds tight
With a powerful incisor.
The kitten mews loudly
But on the outside there's silence
Perfect soundproofing
Hides the internal violence.
Inside this cocoon
Is a horrible place
As a million small pincers
Torment the cats face.

Satyr with second face in its tummy

I went to Kenilworth castle today and for the first time in my three decades of going there, went into the Gate House. Well I have been before, but that was for a charity do where I had to use it as a changing room where I dressed up as Paddington Bear. This was the first time I'd gone on the tour.
Anyway, they had this strange creature carved into a dresser there. It looked like a satyr, but it had a second face in its tummy. The guide wouldn't let me take a photo so I've drawn it up to show you. Have you ever seen the like?

53 Squeeballs

Here's 53 types of Squeeball still at the prototype stage. Can you spot the lucky few who made it through into the final game? I wish the one with the udders would have. I also like the one which is inspired by the Flash Gordon lizard men with its eyes inside its mouth. Gordon's Alive!

Squeeballs in the UK

I was in Asda tody and noticed that Squeeballs was doing well in the Nintendo DS charts. I don't know if I've mentioned it, but I designed the characters for this game. Did I mention it? It's been out in the UK a few weeks now, but I haven't seen the Wii version in any shops here, which is far superior.
I found some old concept work I did for this game ages ago and here it is.

Top secret projects

It's hard finding work to post up on here as the nature of the industry requires that I'm always signing NDAs so I can't show anything until it is either out or canned. However, I did this picture for a potentially exciting project which I can't talk about but I notice that they've put the image up on the web so as it's now in the public domain I'm putting it up too.

Ben 10 Alien Force

I'm afraid that today's post is just me touting my wares for commercial gains. If you're after zombies and kittens come back here later. Otherwise, here's a bit of corporate work I did with Waste Creative for Cartoon Network. I designed some Ben 10 style aliens for the CN site's Ben 10 Alien Maker. I've posted this so you can see that I don't just draw zombies and kittens (although I usually do) and so that any creative agencies can see what a versatile and reasonably priced artist I really am. If you are such a creative agency check out the rest of my work and get in touch. Look here: www.philcorbett.com
