Warwickshire's bear & ragged staff

The bear and ragged staff is the emblem of the fine county of Warwickshire and is a much under used symbol of the area. A while back, I did some work with Warwickshire County Council on using the bear as a mascot for their various youth schemes. But they never went with it. You can find out the coat of arms' history here if you want.

  1. Does this picture try to celebrate bear baiting? I wonder why people do not want to use it anymore.
