Zombunnies on Pop Jam

Busy week last week: I've been putting together a Zombunnies channel for Mind Candy's new venture. Pop Jam. It's kind of like Instagram for kids but with a doodle feature. It reminds me of the work we were doing at FaceParty ten (gulp) year ago and, by the looks of it ten years too early.

I've done work for Mind Candy and Moshi Monsters on and off for years. I was right there at the start, some of the original trophies you could win in game were designed by me and I really like the company - even though they insisted I do an art test when I was applying for freelance work there last year - with my credentials! Pride got the best and I refused.

But we're all friends again now and it's a pleasure to be involved with them once more. Especially nice is to be working with old time friend Ed Harrison of What What who is involved in the running of Pop Jam and who I last saw in real life in a rainy, boozy evening in Shinjuku a couple of years back. That's how cool we are!

So if you know some super cool kids, point them to the Pop Jam app and get them following the Zombunnies. I have big plans for them!

Pictoplasma 2011

I'm just back from Pictoplasma in Berlin. It was there, two years ago where I vowed to start this blog and here I am, still blogging away like a good 'un.

It was a great Pictoplasma this year and I had loads of fun with chums both new and old. It was very inspiring and new plots have been instigated which I very much hope to follow up on. My main gripe about the conference though is no matter how great and artist is, if they are no good at public speaking or are suffering with the language without using an interpreter they shouldn't be booked to talk.

While in Berlin I was reminded of the Bunny mandala. I have a couple of rabbits secreted away in this poster that Pictoplasma produced a few years ago. See if you can spot them.

There's no call for this

Is it today that's the real Chinese New Year? Was I premature? That's not like me at all. Well Happy New Year again. This is a detail from those sexy pants I did last year. I used to have a pet rabbit when I was little. I never touched it. I couldn't, it was so violent. My dad used to have to get it out of its hutch with the gardening gloves for protection when we had to clean it out. Never was there such relief in the Corbett household when it finally died and its reign of terror came to an end.

Marriage Bunnies

I was up in Scotland this weekend for a wedding. This was the present. Not this jpeg but a lovely 18'' printed canvas. Sally, the bride used to be obsessed with rabbits when we were kids - she still is, thank goodness. She let me borrow her camping van to tour the Hebrides the week before the do and I cracked the wing mirror. Sorry about that and good luck to the pair of you!

Happy Easter

Tomorrow is Good Friday, but for me Easter starts here. When we were kids we used to go crazy on Easter Monday with all the discounted eggs at Woolworths, but this year, in the major supermarkets it's been cheaper to buy an egg with all the accompanying chocolates for cheaper than just getting the chocolates on their own. I've had loads already, starting back in February. What kind of false economy is that?

Nothing sums up Valentine's day more than two rabbits at it! You've got the choice of red or blue and boxers or briefs. I can't believe AussieBum let me do this design for them. What am I saying? I've met some of their staff and of course they would - I'm just surprised we didn't hit this level sooner!
